Living the Mamma Mia Dream in Cyprus

Updated: Dec 22, 2019

BRB, waiting for my three dads to show up for my wedding while my mom fixes up her hotel over on that cliff.

Okay, but SERIOUSLY! I had no idea how beautiful Cyprus is and how gorgeous the beaches are. We got so much out of our short trip to Cyprus, including the love for eating fresh fish (I'll take Sea Bream for any meal, thanks), an addiction to jet skis and a love for underwater selfies.

I'm a total Mamma Mia fan girl and although the movies weren't filmed in Cyprus, the turquoise waters, golden sunsets and jet ski rentals will get you singing Super Trooper from the top of your lungs while cruising down the coastline in a dune buggy.

After spending time in Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Troodos and Narcosia, I can easily say that Ayia Napa has them all beat. But this is an obvious preference for someone who came to Cyprus for the beaches and attractions!

XS Watersports

For 50 euro we rented this jet ski for half an hour with XS Watersports! It was by far one of the most fun activities we did during the entire trip. It's a freaking miracle I didn't lose my phone to the deep abyss of the Mediterranean that afternoon. Instead, I have the pics and the endless videos of me screaming and Daniel laughing to remember the adrenaline rush until next time.

The best beach we visited while in Cyprus was definitely the Sea Caves in Ayia Napa! For the views, the clear water and the fun side-wards trek to get in for a swim! If you're a total dare devil then you can jump off from the top of the cliff but it's super dangerous and marked off as fatal. For me it was definitely not worth the risk taking the jump!

Sea Caves, Ayia Napa

A close second was Nissi Beach, also in Ayia Napa. We went on our last day in Cyprus and had so much fun walking through the lukewarm, crystal clear water that only reached up to our waists!

Aside from the beaches, we became totally obsessed with eating fresh fish! Fresh fish and fresh FETA CHEESE, oh god I can taste it now... It took some test and learning to figure out that places like Ocean Basket (chain store) holds nothing up against the small family run tucked away restaurants like Enalia in Ammoulani Gardens or The Mill Hotel in Kakopetria.

A nice Sea Bream, Trout, Red Mullet, etc. with a cold Cyprus brewed beer, KEO, hits the spot. Every. Single. Time.

To sum it up, Cyprus is the PERFECT location to beach bum and live the island life 🤙

Stay close to the water and keep to smaller restaurants to get the best experience!
