I thought my list of saved places on Google Maps was a but disproportioned to the amount of time I had in Vienna, but turns out, everything is in close walking distance so you'll be able to navigate all of the must-see destinations of Vienna!
Where to Stay in Vienna
My main goal in traveling is to spend as little time as possible carrying my bags, so if in Europe I always pick a place to stay that is easily accessible by public transportation.
I stayed at Goldene Spinne Hotel, a budget option. It had excellent location, just a few minutes walk from a main train station, Starbucks, grocery store and a great starting point for my day of sightseeing.

I recommend following this list as it's ordered. A lot of these are in the same vicinity and you'll be able to see several in just a short matter of time.
I came on this trip for photography and wandering outdoors soaking in the European winter. That being said, I didn't go inside any of these location, rather meandered around outside, captured pictures and continued on. Keep that in mind for timing reasons!
How to Get Around Vienna
I went by foot the entire day, but I did have experience with the public transportation in Vienna on separate occasions and it's wonderful! Super convenient, easy to navigate, fast, and cheap. But you can definitely do it all on foot.
What to Wear in Vienna in January
Pack warm! It is cooolllld! There are some essentials I highly recommend packing. These just might have saved my life!
Warm wool socks that wick off sweat.
Comfy, closed shoes (even better boots).
Gloves!!!
Thermo Undershirt (I recommend Sub Zero)
Windproof, waterproof, insulated jacket
Sweater
Denim jeans
Earmuffs or beanie
Scarf
Don't underestimate a cold European winter! But on the plus side, every single hotel/cafe/restaurant and attraction keeps it warm and cozy inside so if you ever need to warm up, step inside for a quick coffee or meal.
That's it! You'll have an awesome day traveling around. Austrians are very kind and you'll feel safe walking around the city. Just keep an eye on your belongings 😉 .
Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria, located in the eastern part of the country. With a population of about 1.9 million people, it is also the cultural, economic, and political center of Austria. Vienna has a rich history, having been the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the birthplace of many famous composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss.
